A DATE WITH HAPPY SKIN
It's always the season to fill up the self-love store, it's a store you can pull from when you need to and a groove you can drop into when the going gets tough. Self-care with plant based skincare is a great time to focus some positive energy towards yourself but more rewardingly to how your skin feels. Here are 5 key treatments & ingredients that will restore the balance and health of your skin and have you feeling vibrant, fresh & loved.
PLANTS WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER
Simple self-love rituals
Increased energy and blood flow in the skin promotes rejuvenation. Diminished blood supply is one of the key causes of skin decline, oxygen & nutrients naturally circulate with proper blood supply. For your body massage or a dry brush will work wonders from once a week to as often as you can, as you wash, as you apply a moisturiser, or a body balm or even as you towel dry. Facial massage is a weekly treat that I love to use to feel uplifted and ready for anything, my skin feels rejuvinated and it lasts all week. I use a little light oil like apricot kernel or sunflower and massage, I use little circles and combine with broad upwards strokes in-between - massage for as long as you like, carve out time for this ritual it's one of the most rewarding ones. Oh! - and switch out the oil for aloe if your skin could use a drink!
YOU + ME TIME + PURE INGREDIENTS = HAPPY SKIN
PLUMP IT UP
Apply a pure aloe vera layer before your final serum or moisturiser, the plumping action of this leaf transforms dry skin making it literally dewy - it feels so good. If you have a plant chop a leaf and use that.
Exfoliation balances the production of new cell growth but manual exfoliation on the soft skin of the face shouldn't be done more than every 10 days, this is often enough to remove dead skin cells. You don't want to strip the precious protective layer of the skin and cause more problems, like spots. For a DIY ingredient look no further than rice flour, the grain is fine and perfect for polishing off the debris, you'll be stroking your face every 10 minutes proud to put cupids butt to shame.
Which essential oils to reach for? If you read my blog on essential oils and the basics you'll have found lots of mixes for self-care. I reach most often for lavender to relax and calm and bring myself back to a balanced state of well-being. Vanilla if I need to feel comforted and rose as a heart opener, it literally fills your heart. ( always mix your oils in a carrier before applying directly to the skin, 2 drops - 1 tsp oil )
Try putting cedarwood and geranium essential oil in a difuser, they will clear your space of any negative energy so that you can fill it with the good love vibes.
In a nutshell some wonderful natural skincare ingredients to look out for when what you really need is a boost to your self-love tank, or a skincare ritual that makes sure you don't have to worry about your skin. If it feels beautiful it is.
And because self-love isn't always skincare the 12 steps are great to pin up as a reminder of the actionable steps you can take every day.
LOVE FOREVER, SKIN FOREVER!!
Lot's of love. Becky
