SUMMER SKINCARE RECIPIES

NATURAL SPF BODY OIL

We are so used to sun creams as a sun protection an oil sounds counter intuitive, believe me I get it, I used to feel the same way about body oils, regular use and understanding the deeper nature of skin has converted me. Regular sunscreens can contain nasties that you really don't want to be adding to your body. This natural SPF body oil melts instantly into the skin not only providing protection but also locking in moisture for velvety soft skin.

INGREDIENTS:

40g Coconut oil (SPF 8-10)

40g Shea butter (SPF 8-10)

20ml Raspberry seed oil (SPF 30-50)

10ml Carrot seed oil (SPF 30)

10ml Wheatgerm oil (SPF 20)

10 drops of essential oil of your choice ( you can match it to the next recipe and create an aromatic theme)

METHOD:

1. Choose a 120 ml jar and put the coconut oil and shea butter inside.

2. Put the jar in a bowl and pour hot (not boiling) water into the bowl. The oils inside the jar will melt.

3. Add all the other ingredients stir and pop in the fridge to set. Hey presto!

SUMMER FEET TREAT

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of coconut milk

1 cup salt, epsom, himalayan or sea

5 drops lemon essential oil ( or choose something to match your body oil)

10 drops relaxing lavender essential oil

Herbs - Rosemary, thyme, lavender, sage. All or any!

METHOD:

Add the essential oils to the salt, mixing into a carrier is the safest way to incorporate essential oils to a water bath otherwise they tend to float on the surface and could burn your skin. Dissolve the salt in warm water before adding it to your foot bath. Add the skin softening coconut milk then mix to the desired temperature. Coconut is also an antioxidant. Add the flowers and herbs, infuse and it's ready. Take all the time you deserve to enjoy this treat. Rosemary and thyme are both herbs with amazing revitalising properties.

 TREATING SUN DAMAGE

UV damage contributes to age spots and hyperpigmentation of the skin, there are some fab natural ingredients that will, over time brighten the skin and even out skin tone.

Look for products that contain a high level of rosehip oil, a skin rejuvinating star!

Citrus oils esp mandarin and lemon brighten the skin but use these in the evening as they are phototoxic and maximise sun absorption.

Sea Buckthorn also contains super high levels of vitamin C a skin brightening ingredient.

You can find organic cold pressed rosehip oil in 'WILD REGENERATION' body balm. A balm that melts into the skin, nourishing and brightening. 'WILD GOLD' body balm contains sea buckthorn and pink grapefruit, both skin brightening ingredients, a revitalising balm that also works as a jet-lag remedy thanks to the pink grapefruit extract. Both balms are available in handy 60 ml travel sizes.

Thank you so much for reading my blog.

HAVE AN AMAZING SUMMER!
