- APPLE BLOSSOM  & APPLE RECIPES -

One of my favourite sights is when a spring wind picks up fallen blossom and there is a mini pink whirlwind. This week's blog post is inspired by the delicate yet potent petals of apple blossom.  Apples are part of the Rosaceae family- AKA the Rose family, everyone knows how great rose is for the skin, apples have just as many properties that enhance skin health.

CONSTITUENTS: Vitamin C, vitamin A, malic acid, tannic acid, amino acids, minerals and pectin.

ACTIONS: Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, tonic, emollient, Phyto CE lactic.

INSTANT GLOW MASK: This mask will cleanse your skin of dead skin cells while supporting the healthy formation of collagen. The malic acid will firm and smooth all skin types, especially dry problem skin areas and even skin tone.

1 tablespoon of apple juice (you can grate an apple and squeeze the juice)

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1 heaped tsp oatmeal (you can blitz any oats to a powder)

Mix the apple juice and chia seeds together till they form a gel, mix in the oatmeal to a paste and apply to cleansed skin, you don't need to avoid the eye area, apples are especially good for the treatment of dark circles and tired eyes. Leave on the skin for 15-20 minutes, rinse with warm water and moisturise as usual, although you might not need to.

APPLE GEL MASK: This makes a sheet gel mask that's cooling, nutritive and soothing for tired eyes.

1 Apple, grated

1 tsp seaweed thickener (agar agar)

Squeeze the juice from the grated apple and put it in a saucepan with the thickener. Bring to the boil, whisking and boil for 30 seconds or so, take off the heat and pour onto a side plate so that its 1/4 cm thick. Cool in the fridge for 5 minutes and its ready to use. It will now be a set sheet that you can place on your face, especially good for the end of the week to help you unwind and nourish.

BRIGHTENING TONER TREATMENT:  Using fresh ingredients optimises the potent plant extracts of this recipe, this toner will reveal a radiant and glowing complexion. Use as a weeklong skincare ritual.

1/4 tsp organic runny honey (works fine without if you're vegan)

5 tbsp filtered water

1- 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar

4 drops of lavender oil  (optional)

Fill a jar or spritz bottle with the ingredients, shake and apply. Apply as often as you like, keep in a cool place and use within a week.

Happy mixing!
