PAMPER OR SELF CARE RITUAL what's the difference?

Whether you've saved time to pamper yourself or are taking time for a self-care ritual, one thing is for sure, you'll be stopping to smell the roses, appreciating time to chill, unwind and relax.
It doesn't matter if your choosing a self-care ritual or time out to pamper yourself one thing that unites them is time, or the absence of it, a space just for you, where minutes lengthen, stretch out and then da daaaa!!!! time disappears and you're simply in the wonderful moment, softening and relaxing.

This quality of space with no time is so deeply restorative, it's the same space as meditating, aware of your breath, the bath water around you or the face mask you've just applied, alive and connected this deep relaxation is so revitalising.
Self care rituals are really popular but what is it? How do you do it? The traditional idea of what makes a ritual is something a bit spooky? something that involves dancing naked under a full moon but the modern adapted form is very different. We could also call it a self love ritual and some people worry that it can still be seen as something selfish, to love yourself first, to fill up your cup, but it's an essential activity for thriving in our modern fast paced world.

I think there is a distinction between pampering or a self care ritual, I'll try to explain, Iv'e asked friends what comes to mind when they think of them and included some thesaurus ideas.

 Pampering:

Decadent, indulge, spoil, cucumbers, bubbles, pink, chocolate, time for me, candles, cater to my every whim, softness, relaxing, getting ready for a night out.

 Self care ritual:

Simple, Intention, practice, worship, peace, celebration, candles, observance, tradition, regeneration, refresh, routine, ceremonial, roses, I let go of the week, reclaiming myself, relaxing, love.

I do both, neither is better because we are all individual and we've all adapted our own personal routines that include the elements we love when we need them most but the main difference as I see it is the intention. During both, we are bringing our hearts into the moment until it glows, in a conscious self-love ritual, we can feel personal compassion, for a difficult day or compassion for our bodies, the intention to love the moment as it is without wanting to change anything or being okay with wanting to change something.
I think I've mixed the two together personally but lean towards a self-care ritual so naturally have more to say about it.
A self-care ritual can be as simple as applying a face mask, it's the repetition of touch and quiet time that makes it special and the more you do it the deeper the effect for your wellbeing, I've written more about it here:  WHY MIX 2
If you want to create a more in-depth self-care ritual you can set an intention as you light a candle, aloud or to yourself, 'this time is for love, I'm going to live with a more open heart', 'I'm going to relax and I want to cultivate more joy in my life', 'dear god, please make my skin less spotty' or 'I'm using this time to let go of the old me and I welcome in the new me' These really work, magic!
So whatever you do, a self-care ritual infused with natural skincare and a shrub cocktail or a pampering evening with bubbles both in the bath and a glass just make sure you stop and smell the roses, feel gratitude and fill up to the top. I'm all for a world full of women who love themselves more than they thought they could, with a heart full we can heal our hurts, they melt,  it will radiate through your skin and what better weekend than Halloween to mix up some potions and disappear for some serious transformation!
