I don't know about you but mornings are busy, I love 2-1 products in the morning, I save my masking and other relaxing self-care rituals for evenings and weekends. I'm passionate about minimal skin-care, not only does it mean I can avoid cleansing rituals that contain harsh ingredients and eliminate the amount of unnecessary and toxic ingredients that would strip my skin of its natural oils, but it also allows a synergy of high-performance extracts that combine harmoniously for naturally radiant skin.

Unbottling sunshine every morning.

I've talked to people that say that they spend less on a cleanser as it's not on the skin for long, well, the reverse is true, when the skin is moist it’s especially effective at absorbing active nutrients. This daily ritual can be the optimum time for delivering a nutrient rich cocktail of active ingredients that nourish the dermal layer while protecting the acid mantle layer, creating a protective barrier from degenerating factors.

These new go-to cleansing grains fuse ingredients that nature has packed with sunshine and this is released when you mix these grains every morning.

So that's a simple 2-minute daily ritual that is, uplifting,

cleansing, gently exfoliating, moisturising and uplifting

with antibacterial support.

About the formulation:

WILD CORNISH KAOLIN CLAY. Superfine kaolin respects any type of skin even the most ageing ones. Thank's to its incredible illuminating and decongesting properties, it instantaneously reveals the radiance of the skin while deeply revitalising it.

COCONUT FLOUR. Coconut flour powder is creamy, moisturising and rich in lauric acid and vitamins B, C & E.

OAT BRAN. Gentle enough for all skin types and fine enough to gently exfoliate without damaging the skin.

APRICOT KERNAL OIL. Apricot oil is a great skin rejuvenator, especially good for dry skin it enhances natural elasticity. Formulated into these grains to prevent trans epidermal water loss.

JOJOBA OIL. Jojoba is chemically very similar to human sebum making it an excellent moisturiser and nourishing skin protector, formulated into these grains to prevent trans epidermal water loss. More on jojoba here.

BERGAMOT. Bergamot essential oil is a unique, ‘sunny’ citrus oil that helps to balance the skin's oil production making it very beneficial for combination/oily skin types. A sweet, lemony fresh top note, with a warm, floral and clean undertone.

LEMON. Lemon oil is naturally astringent, balances the skins sebum production and evens skin tone.

LEMON EUCALYPTUS. Fresh with that ' spa ' aroma. Antibacterial support, cleansing.

The Recipe:

40 g    Kaolin clay

25 g    Coconut flour

10 g     Oat bran

15 ml  Jojoba oil

10 ml  Apricot oil

1/2 ml - 10 drops Lemon essential oil

1 ml - 20 drops Bergamot essential oil

1 ml - 20 drops Eucalyptus essential oil

This is where you turn your kitchen into a mixing lab and become a skin care genius. Mix the jojoba oil, apricot oil together with the essential oils in a small bowl. Mix the powders together in another bowl and pour in the oil mixture. Combine the oils evenly into the powder, pressing with the back of a spoon and stir for about 5 minutes until it looks like grains of sand, it smells amazing! Pour your cleansing grains into a jar or bottle and store out of direct sunlight to preserve the active benefits of the oil extracts. All the ingredients are stable and will last for 3-6 months.

Have fun making your DIY, 2-1, ultra - hydrating,

all natural cleansing grains.

Use these cleansing grains as you would any other cleanser.

To use:

Pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and drip water from your fingertips to form a paste, apply to warmed skin in gentle circular movements with emphasis on the upward strokes. While it's not a good idea to exfoliate daily this recipe is gentle enough for daily use. Wash off with warm water, I like to spritz a toner at this stage to help close the pores before adding a face oil.

Your cleansing grains can also be mixed for use as a face mask, mix with aloe vera juice for moisturising, green tea for added antioxidant properties or coconut yogurt for extra moisturising and antioxidant properties in one.

Have fun, personalise the recipe, use what ingredients you can find, kaolin, jojoba and apricot oil are widely available online, everything else you should find in your local health food shop.
